West Don Lands Precinct + Block Plan
Extending Toronto’s Mixed-use Urban Fabric to the Don River
Located in the southeast corner of Downtown, the West Don Lands Master Plan and Form-Based Code was prepared for Waterfront Toronto and the UDA design team engaged the community in an extensive public planning process. As a result, the exciting new LEED-ND precinct inherited many of the unique qualities and characteristics of the surrounding neighborhoods. It also features Corktown Commons – a new 18-acre, $135M civic park on the Don River – designed with flood control devices to protect the new district and serving as a critical component of both the river’s restoration and the creation of a major continuous greenway for the city. Of special note is that precinct’s choice as home of the 2015 Pan American Games Athlete’s Village accelerated UDA’s successful implementation of the plan, including an $814M investment in buildings that were subsequently converted to condominiums.
